4 Days/3 Nights Mount Meru Trekking

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro or Arusha Airport, your private driver-guide will transfer you to your accommodation. After dinner, you will be briefed on the trek and have your equipment checked.

Hiking Time: 4–5 hours

Habitat: Forest and Grassland

After breakfast, you will drive to Momella Gate in Arusha National Park for registration and start your trek. The trail passes through grasslands where you may spot giraffes, buffalo, and antelopes. As you ascend, you’ll enter a lush forest with waterfalls and views of Meru Crater. You’ll arrive at Miriakamba Hut for dinner and overnight.

Distance: Approximately 8 km
Habitat: Montane Forest and Moorland

The trek continues through montane forests, offering scenic views and wildlife sightings. After about four hours of hiking, you’ll reach Saddle Hut, which is situated between Little Meru and the summit ridge. In the afternoon, you can take an optional hike to Little Meru (3820m) for acclimatization and fantastic views of Kilimanjaro. Dinner and overnight will be at Saddle Hut.

Distance: Approximately 18 km
Habitat: Alpine Desert and Montane Forest

You’ll wake up around midnight to start your final ascent to the summit of Mount Meru. The trail is steep and rocky, requiring a careful climb to Rhino Point and then onward to the summit. Upon reaching the peak, you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking views of the Ash Cone and Kilimanjaro in the distance. After spending time at the summit, you’ll descend back to Saddle Hut for a short break and then continue down to Momella Gate for your transfer back to your hotel.
