8 Days Kilimanjaro Trekking Lemosho Route

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport or Arusha Airport, your private driver-guide will transfer you to your accommodation. After a briefing and equipment check by your safari guide, enjoy dinner and overnight rest, preparing for your trek.

Drive from Arusha to Lemosho Gate and begin your 3-hour hike through lush rainforests. Camp at Big Tree Camp, where your porters will set up camp and prepare meals.

Habitat: Moorland
Ascend from Big Tree Camp through savannah and heather landscapes to Shira Camp 1. Continue to Shira Camp 2, enjoying stunning views of Kibo Peak and the plateau.

Habitat: Semi Desert
Ascend to the Lava Tower, known as the "Shark’s Tooth," then descend to Barranco Camp. This day aids acclimatization and offers breathtaking views.

Climb the famous Barranco Wall, a challenging but non-technical ascent. Continue along the ridge to Karanga Camp, passing the last water source.

Hike to Barafu Camp through the dry, rocky alpine desert. Enjoy the stunning views of Mawenzi Peak and prepare for your summit attempt the next day.

Hiking Time: 7 hours to Uhuru Peak / 7 hours to descend to Mweka

Habitat: Stone Scree and Ice-Capped Summit
Start your summit attempt around midnight, climbing through scree to Stella Point and then to Uhuru Peak. Descend to Mweka Camp through moorland and forest, arriving in the evening

After an early and well-deserved breakfast, it is a short 3-hour and scenic hike back to the Park gate. At Mweka gate you sign your name and details in a register. This is also where successful climbers receive their summit certificates. Those climbers who reached Stella Point (5757m) are issued with green certificates and those who reached Uhuru Peak (5895m) receive gold certificates. From the Mweka Gate you will continue down into the Mweka village, normally a muddy 3 km (1 hour) hike. At the Mweka Gate, you will have lunch and celebration with your mountain crew.

After that, you will be transferred to a hotel in Moshi or Arusha for hot shower probably dinner and overnight or otherwise in the evening you will be transferred to Kilimanjaro International Airport to connect with your flight back home.
