7 Days Kilimanjaro Trekking – Machame Route

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport or Arusha Airport, your private driver-guide will transfer you to your accommodation. After a briefing and equipment check by your safari guide, enjoy dinner and overnight rest, preparing for your trek.

Start your ascent from Machame Gate through the rain-soaked rainforest. The trail may be muddy and slippery. Porters will have the camp ready upon your arrival, and temperatures may drop at night.

Habitat: Moorland
Hike through the moorland zone to Shira Cave, where you'll have stunning views of the Western Breach and glaciers. Temperatures will be colder than the previous night.

Habitat: Semi-desert
Ascend to Lava Tower, reaching 4600m, before descending to Barranco Camp. This day is crucial for acclimatization, preparing you for the higher altitudes ahead.

Distance: 10 km
Habitat: Alpine desert
After breakfast, tackle the Barranco Wall, continue to Karanga Valley for lunch, and then proceed to Barafu Camp. From here, you'll prepare for the final summit push.

Distance: 14 km
Habitat: Stone scree and ice-capped summit
Begin your summit attempt at midnight. After reaching Uhuru Peak, descend to Barafu Camp for a short rest, then continue down to Mweka Camp.

After breakfast, descend to Mweka Gate where you'll receive your summit certificates. Celebrate with your mountain crew before being transferred back to your hotel in Moshi or Arusha, or directly to the airport.
